Our Spring Break Trip to Washington D.C.

We seem to have started a Heiner family tradition....a Spring Break vacation. This year we packed up the car and went to Washington D.C. for 4 days. The weather was amazing the whole time....sunny and close to 90 degrees!

We started off by visiting Arlington National Cemetery and the Iwo Jima Memorial.

The next day we rode the Metro into the city. We must have walked close to 10 miles hitting the highlights between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol. We went to the Air & Space Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Washington Monument, the Vietnam Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. I think the best part of this day for the kids was the Metro ride!

The third day included the American History Museum where Eric loved the hands-on Spark Lab, a tour of the White House (at least the 4 or 5 rooms that are still open to the taxpayers) and a walking Ghost Tour of D.C. later that night. This is when we took the night shots of the White House and Washington Monument. It was another full day packed with lots of sights and plenty of walking!

On our last day we took the Metro one last time to the National Zoo. Once again, we did a lot of walking! Many of the animals were hiding or sleeping because it felt more like July than April!

I wonder where we will end up next year for Spring Break??!!
